Auliya

Strange are the ways of Auliya but He has been kind and generous to me, as he is to thousands of devotees from all religions, who visit his shrine. I was introduced to Auliya by Uday uncle and Siddharth. If you are wondering who Auliya, He was a famous Sufi saint of the Chishti Order in India in the later part of 13th century and early part of 14th century. For more of history and to know about you can click on the following link

I am a Hindu by religion but why do I believe in a Sufi saint - because faith is a strange thing and Auliya has always looked after me. I have looked at the major religions from such a close range and the only thing constant in all religions is the call for tolerance and love for other humans but somehow the message gets lost for whatever reason and people tend to focus reinterpretation of the most basic things, thus causing the mess of religious extremism -may it be in christianity, hinduism or islam. It does saddens me a lot because ultimately we are all humans and all of us still have core principles which apply to all of us. I might not be expressing what I want to say clearly - easiest way to underestand it would be to pick up William Darlymple's book 'From the Holy Mountain'

It is a fascinating journey through middle east and it will leave you shaken and stirred. William Darlymple is a master storyteller and finds a balance in presenting facts and observations - you might aso find interest in his other books like 'City of Djinns: A Year in Delhi'; 'In Xanadu: A Quest'; 'At the Court of the Fish-Eyed Goddess: Travels In the Indian Subcontinent', which are equally good reads.

George Bush has come back for a second term as the US President and it is just shocking and a disappointment. It will definitely mean a much harsher world and it almost predicts an apex of an empire. What would have happened if John Kerry had come to power -don't know but for now the world politics seems to be just a big farce.

The whole day today went into more meetings at school and today it was more about analysing the year gone by and re analyzing the structure of the course and ways to streamline it and make it even more better. We did not quite finish the meeting because it went into such detailed discussions and brain storming that we soon ran out of time. More is scheduled for next week. I guess it is a good way to make sure that students get the best out of the course. I went back to school later at night to check a couple of dramas and approve them for online. It is surprising how much you can learn even from student projects. I think thats one of the most important things I have learnt this year is that even though you are a tutor, you learn heaps from your students and more so because it is an industry oriented practical training course.

Tomorrow is back to Triangle Studio show and final preparations for this weekend's shoot, which I am really excited about. Anyway will take leave for now.

Amit
