End of 2004

Today was the last day of school for all students - except ofcourse for the editors and some directors. I felt really uneasy for some reason today -something kept nagging me at the back of my head though i couldn't place my finger on it. the last meeting with the students was really buzzy and also sentimental. The funniest part was definitely Elton, Brendon and Lance dressing up as Mafia dons and greeting all the tutors italian style.

Triangle show seemed to go fine and Benji studio directed and i must say that the team work was definitely great. Another 3 shows for the year and the show ends for the year -which is fantastic. Don't know what the future for it will be next year.

The whole day was spent sorting out stuff for the intro course next week -which is gonna be really interesting because now the teaching has come full circle, where I am now getting back to the basics. Loaded up the macs with the footage and also made notes for the lecture on the board so that it is structured and makes sense both to me and to the students. It is surprising the amount of change i have had - looking back at the beginning of the year for the same lessons -it was so unstructured and my thought process so vague in regards to try and teach something but now it seems logical and more certain on how to teach things. definitely learnt a lot this year.

Rhys, one of the students from this year has got a job with the company which makes behind the scenes doco for Peter Jackson, they are trying him out for their current project 'King Kong'...it is really exciting and great to see your students going places. And Rhys definitely is destined for greater things -he is fantastic.

I did not go running yesterday and today because i have injured my knee joint while running. I think it happened on the first day but i ignored it and on the third day of running it was excruciatingly painful but i still finished the run. I decided that I am gonna give it a rest for a couple of days - give it time to heal and get back to it.

Also working on getting the work permit sorted out for next year. They have changed the rules and now I have to go through a complete medical examination and x-ray checkup before i can submit my papers to the NZIS - painful and time consuming but has to be done. I think I will get it done on Tuesday since I won't be able to have it done on Monday because of the intro course.

You know you got to end a post when you feel like talking about the weather. :-)
