Long Weekend

Between the last blog entry and this one -it seems like ages that I have updated anyone on anything. Things had been hectic throughout the week. More paperwork for NZQA and then meeting with TV3's Head of editing on Wednesday. Had a get together with the international students on thursday evening at One Red Dog in Takapuna - which was a really cool party and the international bunch this year is really interesting again. During the day, also got a call from immigration and they have extended the work permit till the end of 2006 -which is cool as it takes weight of my mind. I will apply for PR as soon as my passport comes back.

Friday went into more paperwork, meetings and tidying things around school. We had to tell Triangle TV that we could no longer do the show because of resource constraints, especially in the light of the new batch of students starting off their year at South Seas. We will be doing 2 final shows the week after next to wrap up our commitment to Triangle, for which I then started locking down crew and making sure that things go fine when it comes to recording the shows.

Yesterday -i finally went and bought 'Understanding Comics' by Scott McCloud, which I had wanted to buy for a long time now. But before that we recorded ADR with Richard for John's character and it was really fun and Benji did a fantastic recording setup with the resources we had. It took us half the day to get the ADR's done and then went into the city to get the books. Also brought couple of magazines, so that I can subscribe to them -one of them,'DV' had fantastic articles -one of which was aspect ratios and methods of making DVD's for different aspect ratios. Had a meeting with Alastair, later in the evening, as he has agreed to do opening and end credits for the movie. Watched the opening and the ending of the movie on the big screen and it looks nice. I came home on friday night and had re-encoded the DVD with VBR instead of CBR and also increased the data rate, which made the encode work much better... took whole of Friday night but the result was really pleasing.

Later in the evening yesterday, went to Lillian's farewell party at the 'Loaded Hog' in Viaduct. Lillian was one of last year's editing graduates and she was going back to Switzerland because her student visa was about to expire. It was really cool year and there was no way I could have missed that party, even though I don't really like parties that much.

Today is going to be a relaxing day, as I don't plan to do much at all -maybe do my cloths and maybe edit the trailer for the movie - but nothing concrete. Tomorrow -we will be doing ADR with Rachel - which would get the major chunk of the ADR's done.It is unbelievable how times passes so quick. A whole month just flew by.

Ahh...and about the newspaper article which was supposed to come out last week has been put off till next week because the newspaper felt that it would be better in a bigger edition than the last one. So this week -both the articles will be printed. Waiting for them to come out, to see what angles they have presented from the story.

Anyway - I better get back to lazing around today.
