The Motorcycle Diaries

Just back from watching 'The Motorcycle Diaries'. It was simply superb - a movie based on the journals of Che Guevara, leader of the Cuban Revolution and it does not touch any political issues - all it touches is human emotions and growth. Absolutely loved the cinematography as well as the pacing. The acting from both Gael GarcĂa Bernal and Rodrigo De la Serna was fantastic - you could feel what the characters were going through. The amazing thing with the movie was that it was actually shot chronologically, in sequence and actually retraced the exact path that Che and Alberto, took over 50 years ago, over all those countries. The production notes on the website are just magic and inspiring. You got to check out the official website.

After watching the movie - I am seriously inspired to do the next project on film instead of DV or HD, even though I am a great fan of the digital revolution but then it again depends on the funding and the kind of project it is - no point in doing a project on film if it is suited more to HD. I came back and did research on Che Guevara and I think I would like to share this link with you. This is a TIME Magazine article. Click HERE to read it.

We have run ourselves aground temporarily on the movie - technical hiccups continue and Matt is recovering the data from the crashed hard disk as we speak. Avid Pro has also got some major flaws which we encountered and as Benji puts it, almost makes you convert to Final Cut Pro. Tried posting on the avid forums but half the people who were replying do not know what they are talking about, only one person gave us a sane answer and knew what he was talking about. And talking to Jamie definitely helped the most because it helped us understand where the problem was, otherwise both Benji and me were going mad. We will get back to resynching the film on Monday once the hard disk is recovered.

Anyway, nothing much to write for now.
Amit
