New Dish, New Taste

Feeling a lot better after 2 days of sore throat and flu - took an early day off on friday for that and it definitely seems to have done me good.

I read the comic book version of 'Revenge of the Sith' and the comic is a lot more convincing than the movie - i would say Anakin's character is way better in the comic book and only leads me to believe that Hayden Christensen was not convinced about Anakin's motivations and thus did not put any effort towards the most crucial parts -especially the turning point which was heaps better in the comic...i would definitely recommend reading the comic to see what I am saying.

Saw 'The Hostage' and it was good for 3/4th of the way through..the movie lost it towards the end but it was fantastically shot and well acted for most part. Bruce Willis was good in the role because it played to his strengths. If only the ending was better -the movie would have done a lot better.

I went and bought 2 books which i have been holding off for a time now - 'The Watchmen' and 'V for Vendetta': both of them graphic novels by Alan Moore and I have started reading 'The Watchmen' and it is complex and a tough but engrossing read. It is something you don't expect in a comic book and I am enjoying it. Incidentally both the movies are being made into major motion picture. 'The Watchmen' is being directed by Paul Greengrass - the director of 'Bourne Supremacy' and 'Bloody Sunday' and it is intriguing what he will do with such complex material. The other book - 'V for Vendetta' will be starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman... It is strange for Hollywood to suddenly start making all the comic books into movies - my perception is that technological advances combined with creative bankruptcy has a major role to play in it.

I experimented and made a new dish today - i am still not sure what to call it but here goes.

Ingredients:
2 finely chopped onions
3 tablespoon Olive oil
4 brown mushrooms sliced {250 gms}
400 gms chopped boneless/skinless chicken breast
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 - 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
Herbs - Bay, italian parsley, sweet marjoram, lovage, oregano, rosemary, sage and thyme
1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce

Cooking method:
1. Add onion to pan with olive oil and stir fry on medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
2. Add garlic paste to onions and keep stirring till onions are light brown.
3. Add turmeric powder and stir fry for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add red chilli powder and keep stirring.
5. Add salt and stir for another 2 minutes.
6. Add chicken - cook till chicken is cooked {7-10 minutes}
7. Add mushrooms - cook for 2-3 minutes and then add sweet chilli sauce and keep stirring till mushrooms are cooked
8. Add herbs and cook for another 2 minutes

Serve with hot garlic pita bread.

Looks like a tough dish to make doesn't it??? it is a litte time consuming but the ultimate result is a slightly sweetish but slightly hottish dish... i enjoyed eating it and when i say that you must realize that when you cook you don't really enjoy your own cooking that much because you have spent so much time tasting and perfecting the taste that the joy of actually eating at the dinner table is lost. So yeah - the dish definitely has a unique taste and definitely worth the time. I might name it 'Black Magic mushroom chicken' :-)

I cleaned up my room today and I have got space to walk again without stepping on something or breaking something - it just seems that i need to do it once every month. Tomorrow is the second screening of 'Memories' at the festival and I am keeping fingers crossed for a bigger turnout. Also waiting for the next issue of TAKE magazine to come out which will have the interview I did with them and also keeping fingers crossed to see if 'Memories' will be a finalist at the NZ screen awards in the digital feature category -will get to know about it in the next week or so...I hope so as it will be a good way to get noticed.

Anyway - will let you know what happens tomorrow.
Amit
