Always look at the bright side of life

“Always look at the bright side of life…tutu..tutu..tuttutu…Taake a look on the bright side of life’’ the song is really catchy and is probably one of the highlights from ‘Monty Python’s Life of Brian’…watched it for the umpteenth time and absolutely loved it. It is a true timeless masterpiece.

Watched ‘Revenge of the Sith’ again because I got a free ticket from Berkeley Cinemas and it was fun watching it again. My view still remains the same – the turning point is still not convincing taking into account all factors and the acting does let it down at times. The most thrilling part of the whole trip was seeing the trailer of ‘The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe’…it was fantastic and can’t wait to see the movie when it comes out.

Friday was supposed to be a holiday for me but I spent the better part of the day traveling and having meetings. The first meeting was with the local distributor and it was a really good one. Essentially he has committed to picking up ‘Memories’ for NZ/Australia market and I am thrilled to pieces. The actual DVD/VHS probably won’t hit the local stores till early next year but it means that the movie has found it’s home and I can now start thinking about the next project after I give the deliverables to both the distributors. Both??? Incase you haven’t read the latest update on the website – an American distributor has picked up the worldwide rights{excluding NZ/Australia} for the movie. So it is really exciting knowing that the movie will go out to a bigger audience now. I have just made fresh DVD’s and dropped the movie to a few more festivals and keeping fingers crossed that it gets some more festival screenings.

After the meeting with the distributor I went and visited Doug at South Pacific Pictures – where he is editing Maddigan’s Quest – a children’s fantasy drama commissioned by BBC. Also got the chance to meet Zane – who is an old south seas graduate and is one of the most fantastic minds when it comes to making children’s fantasy dramas a reality. Doug showed me around their facilities and later caught up over lunch.

It has been pouring down for the past few days and I must say that I don’t really enjoy driving in the rain..it is slow, it is tedious and there is also a bigger chance of getting into an accident. I also managed to catch the peak hour traffic when I was trying to get back home and it just felt like a saner version of a traffic jam in Delhi and not as bad, especially in the rain. I came to a realization while driving around mindlessly for the past 2 days. It takes longer to get to a place when the path is new but once you know the road traveled –the distance grows shorter in your mind. I don’t know if that made any sense or not but thinking back I think it holds true for everything that I did – the first time is the hardest for anything.

I finally managed to catch up with Lucas and Daniel, yesterday –something which I had been intending to do for a long time but haven’t been able to get around to doing it. And it took ages to find their place, same as friday when I was going to meet Doug yesterday. But now you can understand when the realization came about..heeheee

It is a lovely sunday morning and the sun is acutally out...so I will probably get myself out of the bed and get some fresh air and some sunshine.

Ciao
Amit
