Heeheeee...that just made my day. I have been cracking up with laughter for the past 10 minutes and thought that I would share it with everyone else. I was searching on the net the reason why there has been a sudden interest for our website and found that the movie is now available for download via eMule, which is a peer-to-peer file share program. But the link is through a chinese website which is where I found the text I listed above {at the time I viewed that page 8098 people had seen that page}. My views on it - not bad at all...someone actually thinks the movie was good enough to go through the entire process of ripping the movie and re-encoding it for file share. They even took the trouble of finding the NZ DVD cover and putting it on the page. I do feel honoured in a way because it definitely generates a lot of interest for our website and provides an exposure for our work - that's the kind of marketing access which is hard to achieve without a budget. The debate of legal v/s illegal is sure to arise but hey at this point all I can say is that the movie is probably getting a lot of exposure in china, a region where it will never ever get released - plus it is not my headache at this stage, it is the distributor who should be worried about it. I am happy with the exposure the movie as well as our website is getting, maybe it will inspire someone to make their own 'no budget' movie {wishful thinking}.
I watched 'Jersey Girl' - a Kevin Smith movie, which bombed at the box office {having made back US$ 36 million worldwide on an estimated production and marketing cost of US$ 50 million}. It was a pleasent surprise as it was a personal movie from the film maker and I enjoyed it a lot. Maybe the reason why KS fans hated it so much was because that is definitely not the kind of movies that Kevin Smith usually writes or makes.
I think that is it from my side for now.
Ciao,
Amit
{P.S - Another chinese website with the movie
And another
And another one
Yet another one
Ok..thats enough from me. I am definitely having the last laugh as they seem to have ripped the movie off from the US DVD.}
