Cleansing

Isn't that we humans call genocide? Every genocide is marketed by the perpetrators as 'cleansing' - they are out to clean something - a race, a religion, a place. How different are you and me from each other? A lot but not really because when you apply mass psychology then every individual is nothing more than a number in some statistics. Just finished watching 'Ararat' - a film by Atom Egoyan, a canadian film maker. The movie is set against the production of a film on the 1915 Armenian genocide by Turkey {the genocide which Turkey still refuses to acknowledge}. The movie is a masterpiece and is exquisite in it's exploration of human identity - personal, cultural and political. It is intricately crafted and dense and touches you deeply. A must watch.

Woke up today morning to the news of bomb blasts in Delhi, another hurricane developing in central america, flooding of chennai and just get the feeling that something fundamental has changed with our world and it just feels like the beginning of fall of our civilization and the way of life as we know it. Driving down the empty streets of Ellice Road {I was dropping in to school to check on some of the edits}, I was thinking how much I really love the empty streets and the tranquility it projects.

Peace,
Amit

{P.S - the soundtrack of 'The Motorcycle Diaries' is fantastic.}
