Full of Grace
How do you erase a picture from your head, which is haunting you? I am trying to....Watched a couple of movies over the past couple of days: 'A Beautiful Mind' and 'Maria Full of Grace' and next in line is 'The Life Acquatic of Steve Zissou'. I did not know what to expect of any of the two films I saw and wasn't disappointed by either. 'A Beautiful Mind' is well made and well acted but it felt like a hollywood movie - a little too perfect...on the other hand 'Maria Full of Grace' gives you a real sense of the environment and you can almost smell the picture- the movie is again beautifully shot and acted but the movie is enhanced by the active camera which is not afraid to search that emotion within. 'Maria' felt strangely fulfilling.
Benji rang up yesterday and it was great talking to him after ages. He will be representing 'Memories' at Zion Independent Film Festival and is also on the panel on low budget independent film making, so that should be an interesting experience to hear about. Benji has also agreed to edit the next movie - which is fantastic..nothing better than making movies with your friends. Now just have to figure out a way to make this happen.
I have started designing a teaser poster for the next movie but it will be a few weeks before anything is revealed. Lance's website design isn't coming well either since I can't agree with myself on a design which does justice to his work. Lance has got an impeccable sense of camera positioning and also has a good visual eye - which means that even his still photographs look stunning and I want the design to reflect that spirit, that passion and the beauty but I have to admit I really am struggling at this stage.
The past couple of days I think I have easily listened to 'Million Voices' atleast a 100 times and when I am not listening to it physically, I seem to be listening to it in my head. I guess I will have to wait for my insanity for that song to die down. I tried breaking my comfort zone and decided to bike back home by a completely different route and my legs are aching right now. The first thing which took me out was the steep hill and I had to push my bike up the last 5 metres as it wouldn't move forward any more inspite of peddaling with all my body. After that it was just a long route with lots of uphills and lots of downhills..so it was a tiring but interesting experience - anything to break the comfort zone.
I will take leave for now. Back to watching movies. :-)
Amit
