Taken??
I was able to watch 2 episodes of Taken -thats about 3 hours of TV and I must say that even though the art direction is fantastic, the story is extremely slow paced and it is laborious sitting through the episodes. Maybe it is so because it is setting up everything and will start paying off soon - hopefully things pick up soon as I will probably go mad going through the remaining seven episodes, if it doesn't.On the movie front, 'Memories' is now available for online rental in US from netflix while it can be rented from either dvdunlimited or fatso or arovideo in NZ. So it is cool that it is atleast accessible online, especially since the local rental market is going through a slump and the video stores don't really care much for local independent films. Other places 'Memories of Tomorrow' has cropped at are 800-Buy-Movies ; SendMeMovies.com and MovieMeter.nl
I just got back from watching 'The 40 year old virgin' and it was surprisingly really funny - more hilarious than 'Wedding Crashers' I thought. What was funny though was the experience - I usually tend to go out and watch a movie alone if I don't have any friends whose plans would possibly match up {and it has been an old habit of mine} and the couple sitting a seat next to me were surprised that I was watching the movie alone. In general, people simply look at me strange but this couple actually asked me, in an amazed way, if I was watching the movie alone - i smiled and replied back timidly "not really -there are 40 other people in the theatre", they smiled back. That in a way is the charm of NZ I think - people are not afraid to talk to you {which I think never ever happened once in India, whenever I went to watch a movie alone - ever}.
The weather doesn't look too good for the weekend, so have to see what I do. Definitely feel the need to stay isolated but might have to go into school to check in on the online session of the first lot of projects. Let's see. As a sign off note - I would like to ask whoever is reading this: when is the last time when you have done something new? something for the first time? something unexpected? do you remember how it feels like?

Last week I decided to follow up on a photo project I thought about while I was in Europe, which basically involved changing the coloration of a shot of water I took in the Cook Islands and then making a 3x3 grid of that picture, all in different colors. I had to teach myself some new things in Photoshop (of which I know very little) and got some test printouts done last week as proof of concept. (The concept was, in fact, proved.)
To answer your other question as I recall it (how come I can't see the post when I'm posting a reply?), it felt good. I've always been a bit insecure about my photographic/image skills and it was nice to create an image that was satisfying to me and that also other people I showed it to found striking.
I've been too busy this week to follow up on it, though, because I've been writing (24 script pages this week so far!) and now I'm working on cutting a corporate piece, which is also a new thing I suppose. Although it feels like just another editing project. I'm also vaguely panicking about getting an actual job, but haven't really followed through yet.
thats fantastic regarding the photo experiment. I would definitely love to see it when I am in a more social mood.(:-) Doesn't it feel great to have that feeling of being alive and achieving something?
regarding 'actual' job - things happen in their own sort of strange way. so don't worry - something will happen.
