Movies and Design

Technically it was the end of the school year yesterday {post production department carries on till December 9th}, so it feels like a closure for this year but not really. It will be an interesting next week with the last intro course for the year scheduled in and this time I am going to try something different - just have to see if it works or not.

It has been a lazy saturday (but not exactly a sane one). Watched a couple of movies - 'When will I be loved' and 'Appleseed' , read a mini series 'Hardboiled' ; had a company meeting with Lance and finished designing most of Lance's website. So it wasn't totally unproductive.

'When will I be loved' played across as an average contained independent film. Some of the editing style was interesting in parts but the use of music was kind of irritating. Overall the movie doesn't overstay its welcome and cruises along nicely. 'Appleseed' was fascinating in pushing the boundaries of animation. The animation is absolutely stunning and the landscape looks so real.

The reason the day wasn't sane was because I got woken up at 3.00 AM in the morning. One of my flatmates ex-girlfriends turned up drunk and started banging on the door. My flatmate got up a minute before me and opened the door and he was as pissed off as me. He handled the situation as best as a person could when they are half asleep but terribly angry. There is a fine line between love and obsession and some people fail to recognize it. I could not go back to bed for another couple of hours though as my deep sleep was broken, so I wasn't feeling 100% happy when i finally did wake up in the morning. But I guess it equated itself in the end.

Got more stuff to design tomorrow - so hopefully it will be a little more productive than today.
Adios for now,
Amit

Appleseed is an amazing film - I saw it at the film festival earlier in the year (and reviewed it, as you do).

You can buy it on DVD now - I'm going to wait until next year when I'm (hopefully) working again, but I will be getting it.
