Lost???

How does a day start and end within a blink? I started the day early again thinking that I would be able to extract time for myself to do some stuff which needed doing but here I am 11.55 at night jotting a quick update before hitting bed. I did some more auditions today and Grant - one of last year's graduates helped me out with the readings.

I did not get into the director's workshop/masterclass that was being offered. I am a tad disappointed but since things are really busy - it hasn't sunk in yet. It just means that I am yet to be accepted as a director by the film commission and the people who 'matter' {whoever they are}. Kind of puts things into perspective. Just answers the question of hopes of any additional funding from any kind of fund - so need to start making alternative plans and start counting my miracles to make this movie happen.

I am still amazed when I get comments people from different parts of the world. Somehow in my naive way of looking at things I always think that no one will ever read what I write because I am a nobody and it doesn't make sense that someone should invest time reading some random ramblings from a crazy dude. So thanks Peter for the previous comment on 'Loose Change'...it is flattering in a way. And yes your point of linear pathways of conspiracy theories is interesting but another factor to take into consideration is that the government is not run by the president but by the buearucrats who have been in their jobs for ages. So is it not possible that there might have been a plan all the way back a long while but only the current president was stupid (or intelligent???} enough to authorize. The current war is not about power but it is about oil - it has been for the past few decades - except that the normal public isn't concerned with seeing any of those things because how does it effect us... right?? anyway that is a long winded discussion... the thing is that loss of human life is tragic and for someone to do it intentionally is evil.

The anonymous comment in the previous post- is that you prashant ????

Funny how I always end the post with an 'off to bed' note...won't do it this time.
bye,
amit

Oil = Energy = Money = Power
Is it worth the loss of human life? In the perspective of the rich and powerful and comfortable, yes, Undoubtedly. Really tragic but it is going to get worse. As countries like China scramble to meet the needs for their growing power and energy needs, the tensions will increase. There is enough food on the table for everyone for the moment but everyone is trying to grab as much as they can just in case it runs out. New Zealand has it's own Energy needs that could potentially lead to a national crisis there. They are subsidizing it by importing millions of tons of coal. Cleaner sources like solar and wind power aren't advanced enough yet to be taken seriously. I live in a city in which 99.9 percent of households own atleast one car and more often two. The public transport system is a joke. Taxie cabs are outrageously expensive. Hybrid cars are expensive aand still relient on petrol. What are we doing in the world to reduce our dependency on oil, a limited resource? The U.S. president gives lip service to alternative energies but it seems to be a token sentiment and besides, it's obvious to a 10 year old that he has an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to the oil market. Cut back on oil? why do that when it's making his friends and business associates so rich? Well, I walk to work everyday and don't own a car but I can't say that it's by choice and I would love to have the freedom to be able to travel freely and quickly. Tried to catch a bus on sat. night to go catch a movie. The first bus never showed up. The second passed right by me, even though I waved him down. Of course I want a car!
As for conspiracies? I don't know about all that. I think that the more likely explanation is their are some people who really don't like the U.S. because they see our hands in everyone's pies, and while their leaders and Saudi Princes grow rich from it, buying 100 million dollar yachts, the populace suffers in poverty and all they can see around them is the decilne of the moral values and the westernization of their culture. The poor are always more religious than the rich, and more will to fight and die for a fanatical belief, because the belief is all they have. The U.S. will always be resented as long as they are a major power and of course it's natural for the U.S. to protect their interest and provide for their citizens, just as any country would. To be fair, I would wager that the U.S. has caused less harm than a lot of other countries would have if they were the superpower of the world. But still, Government is a necesarry evil, and any government that rises to such heights will eventually be seen as the opressor and be resented.
There's so much more to it all...
It's my hope science and progress as well learning from our mistakes will helps us make a better world someday. But I think there will always be the unequal devide between the wealthy and the impoverished.
I should not talk politics because I get carried away in my own view point and always seem to give offense

Middle Eastern politics have never been clear or easy. It seems that every action creates a bad reaction (pushing the Shah to leave Iran, then funding Saddam to fight Iran, then wanting Saddam out, then kicking him out, and pushing for democracy in Palestine only to have Hamas elected, etc.)

And I know the war for oil theory is popular outside the U.S., I can appreciate and understand that sentiment if you're on the outside looking in, but it hasn't stuck with me yet. Our oil prices are consistently on the increase here so when does this theoretical war for oil benefit kick in?

And shouldn't there be protesting in the streets over France, Russia and Germany being on the take from Saddam when they all thought he had WMDs? If I were a citizen of those countries, I'd be furious.

Ah, political discussions. They're fun, aren't they?

I really did enjoy the Loose Change documentary. It asked very good questions. I just thought their answers were off. I can believe the Trade Centers had explosives. I can believe a missle intended to bring down Flight 93 hit the Pentagon. I can believe Flight 93 was shot down by US jets.

That the government was behind it? Must have been from the same department handling the Roswell Crash and the Kennedy Assassination. And that the government did all this for oil? You'd think drilling in Alaska would be much easier and cheaper :)

Personally, I'd love to get off our dependence on oil. But, somehow the oil companies would have to participate in that transitional technology or the economic impact of the oil industry could kill the world economy. I wish things were black and white and decisions easy to make... unfortunately the world is various shades of gray and we have to pick the shade that disappoints us the least.

BTW - Did York Ent. ever fix the Netflix DVDs? What a travesty.
