Photo Update

This is going to be a major photo update - even though quite a few of the cool pics are still on my computer {I will put them into the image gallery real soon}.

Yesterday was as eventful as the day before - got a call from Lance with an invite for a picnic at Hunua Falls, which I agreed to after changing the original program I had for that day. It was fun and the best part was being able to see a couple more small towns south of auckland - Cleveland, Whitford, Maraetai. Whitford was too small in terms of having a continous town - the houses are spread out and the town centre is really small. Maraetai was a really nice beach town and has a really awesome beach but it is too hilly and doesn't have the feel that I am going for. Cleveland on the other hand was a really cool town/village and it is another alternative for a location but the problem is that there are aeroplanes flying past it on a regular basis, since it is close to south auckland {which is where the airport is situated} and that will be a major sound problem. Might go back and see how much frequency of air traffic is there.

Hunua Fall was cool but much smaller than I expected, especially since I have seen bigger waterfalls but I guess thats the advantage that it is not too big for people to have a swim at the bottom of the fall. After coming back from the falls, Lance, Max {lance's younger brother}, Echo and me had a good round of table tennis at Lance's place before I came back home. At home - I finally watched 'Million Dollar Baby' {with english subtitles of course} because my flatties were watching it and it wasn't too bad - the acting by all the three leads make it a compelling watch. I don't know why I avoided the movie for so long.

Now onto the photo update:

Framed Reality at Mahurangi Regional Park - that's me in the frame

Lancer posing at the scenic lookout

Partial view of Helensville from the cemetery

Me checking out the gravestones - the one I was looking at was from 1850 or something closer to that year. And what was sad was that it must have been some kind of a tragedy because it had one date and names of a family members ranging from a 3 month old baby to the parents.

Closer shot of me checking out the grave.

Lance at Hunua Waterfall (sorry for the dark picture!!!)

Originally we were sitting near the base of the waterfall but it was so sunny that we shifted to the shade. Me, Troy, Angela and a couple of her friends.

Echo smitten by the waterfall

Lance lost in the waterfall

A bunch of people climbing the waterfall, so that they can do a jump

An awesome pic which captures the thrill (and the danger) of jumping from rocks

A guy swimming to the centre of the waterfall (he did not succeed, the force from the falling water was too strong and he kept getting pushed back)

It has shaped up to be a lovely weekend and it is a great way to start off the current academic year. I might go and watch 'Walk the Line' today and if I do, I will post an update later.

Bye for now,
Amit
