Rolling Wheels
The wheels are rolling with 'Nowhere' and one seasoned actor has confirmed their interest in playing one of the lead roles - which is a good sign for the movie. I can't say the name or confirm any details because at this stage things are pretty fluid and there are a whole heap of things to be done before I can announce anything.Film making is like war - you are always improvising, mustering your resources, planning, calculating, so that you can win the war. The biggest thing is that the equations keep changing all the time - situations keep cropping up and so do opportunities and there is no constant. Smaller battles keep happening all the time and you win on some days and you loose on others. And everything counts towards the final outcome of the war. As long as one recognizes that fact and plays along, film making is such an enjoyable and creative process otherwise it can be a living hell.
I finished editing a 30 second TV spot for South Seas animation school, which turned out decent with the limited amount of time and resources we had. It was good editing something as it got my mind off the maddening couple of days in front of the Apple G4.
Yesterday - I went to Academy Cinemas for an hour odd to rummage through one of their rooms which contained old posters. Gina - the operations manager there, was kind to let me just jump into it. It was an interesting time looking at some really old posters and quite a few russian movie posters. I managed to find a few to bring back to the school, so that they can be put up all around the school (which they did today itseslf).
There are more posters coming through as I asked a favour from Rialto cinemas - to see if they could send me any old posters which they were gonna discard. They agreed to it and will be getting some posters either tomorrow or early next week.
My car is now going spastic and I am expecting it to die on me anytime now. It doesn't sound healthy at all and I am not really inclined to spend a couple of hundred (hopefully!!!) bucks on getting it repaired. I might take it to the mechanics tomorrow to see how bad the damage will be. I might have to get wet weather gear, so I can bike to work hail, storm or thunder.
Will be taking a trip up north this saturday with Lance and one of his friends, Echo (Echo...Echo....) to explore more locations, as an alternative to Coromandel town, incase things are not sorted out with that regional council.
Bye for now,
Amit
{Update - I watched 'All The Real Girls' again. The pacing was gentle till an hour into the movie after which it almost becomes a different movie. The look and feel of the movie is nice. The acting could have been better in a lot of places but still the characters were interesting enough to hold my attention through out. It is worth a watch if you can tolerate slow paced movies.}
