Inside Man

I watched 'Inside Man' as the trailer seemed to promise of something different. It is different in a way but not really. It provides some really interesting twists and turns but the third act kind of loses steam and the ending is anti-climatic. It has some really funny lines and moments. Clive Owen brings across the menace really well when they take over the bank (don't worry it is not a spoiler and this is the first thing you will see when the movie kicks off) and Denzel Washington is good as usual, so is Jodie Foster in a small role. The pacing feels slow and the pay off is not satisfying enough. The movie could easily have lost about 10 minutes to tighten the movie up but thats my perspective. Cinematography is interesting and the thing I liked is that the city itself seems to become a character, adding to the atmos of the movie. It is definitely worth a look but given a choice between 'V for Vendetta' and 'Inside Man', I prefer 'V'.

One of the startling surprises I got was that the movie starts and ends with a hindi song, 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' from the movie 'Dil Se' - which has some really great music and is a good movie with a bad ending. It was kind of weird because it automatically brought memories of that particular movie to my head. The song in 'Dil Se' is filmed on top of a train going through the hills toward the North Eastern states of India. I did a quick search on the net and found the song HERE. An interesting page to read some random stuff about Bollywood is 'Bollywood for the Skeptical'. If you do like the song then try and search out 'Best of A.R. Rehman' or something like that as he composes some really beautiful music and has created loads of hit songs.

Anyway off for now, got a meeting.
Ciao,
Amit
