Magic

I watched 2 awesome movies today and I am feeling a lot better after a painful and horrid week at work. The movies that I watched were: 'The Magician' and 'Waking Ned Divine'

'The Magician' is a micro-budget australian movie which made it really big. It is hilarious - not in an over the top manner but really black humor and you can't stop laughing at the unpredictability. The movie was made for Aus$ 3000 (before the AFC put in Aus$400,000 for finishing off the movie and i am presuming film transfers) but it so totally works because of Scott Ryan who is the writer/director and central character in the movie. It is a must watch- fascinating stuff!!!!

Scott Ryan as Ray - the hitman with an opinion on everything

The second movie I watched today was 'Waking Ned Divine' which is a charming movie. Gentle humor and funny situations. It immediately brings to mind how much people gamble. In NZ - I am always surprised at the amount of people who line up to buy a 'Lotto' ticket every week.

Sky movies has been running a gazillion re-runs of 'Napoleon Dynamite' and everytime I chance on it while channel surfing, I end up watching it over and over again - I think I watched it for the umpteenth time today. It is a true classic and it has so much infectious charm that it is hard to switch to a different channel.

Till later,
Amit
