Mission Impossible

After the long night lecture yesterday night - I took the day off today and the only productive thing I did was go and watch Mission Impossible:3 and it was an awesome experience. One of the best action flicks i have seen in a while and the movie is taut - keeps you on the edge of the seat. There are so many good things happening with the movie that the couple of qualms I have with it seem ignorable. Philip Seymour Hoffman rocks..he really unleashes something unique. It is a really good watch.

The last couple of days has also seen the release of some trailers (links here are to downloadable sources): Superman Returns; Miami Vice (saw it at the theatre) ; Casino Royale; Pirates of the Carribbean 2.

Casino Royale looks really cool - looks like a nice reboot to the james bond franchise and it feels intense. Miami Vice has the same look as Collateral and didn't get any particular vibe out of it - more so because I have never watched the original TV series. Superman Returns did not really excite me - it was average. The action pieces look awesome but whoever cut the trailer should be fired for mucking up the trailer intensity. The use of music is atrocious. Compared to it the trailer for X-Men 3 has me really excited. The trailer which really got me thrilled was 'Pirates 2' - it looks awesome. I saw the trailer in the theatre as well and the SFX and visuals are stunning. I think this would turn out to be one of the biggest movies this year.

Today morning was filled with false alarms and Civil Defence Failure from the Tsunami warning which arose due to a major earthquake in Tonga registering 8.0 richter scale. Everything is normal here and it seems there has been a complete failure of civil defence organization and they are now facing international as well as national criticism for their handling of the situation.

More things happening with the movie...which obviously I still can't share till the right time.
Off for now,
Amit
