Blade Runner

Blade Runner

Here is something that I came across that I had to share:

The reworking of the film led to "voice overs which started to explain what was about to happen, who the characters were and who was going to do what to who, which is the antithesis of a good movie making process," - Ridley Scott

That's what he said while trying to explain what he had to do when the test screenings for 'Blade Runner' came out so negative that he had to go about following the producers wishes. What he says is so relevant and crucial. The audience doesn't really care about a good movie making process - they would rather have things spoon-fed to them. Not always but most of the time.

Where does the balance lie? Who knows - especially when movies are judged more by their commercial success than anything else.

Till later,
Amit
