Biryani

Shan Bombay Biryani Mix is way better than MDH Hyderabadi Biryani mix. I cooked with Shan spices earlier this week and cooked with MDH spices today and the difference is quite a bit. Cooking with Shan spices takes longer time and also involves a lot more prep but the results are spectacular. On the other hand cooking with MDH was easy but the taste is alright - it is nothing special. So from now on it is just Shan spices - no matter how time consuming the cooking process is. The biggest time consumer is chopping onions - I was there was some easy way to have fresh chopped onions without going through so much pain and tears.

The Incredible Hulk was a fun movie and way more enjoyable than Ang Lee's version but there were some plot contrivances that were annoying and the end battle between Abomination and Hulk was anti-climatic and felt truncated. Overall the movie could easily have gone on for another 20 minutes to provide more cohesiveness but it seems Marvel has their heart set upon providing movies under 2 hours whether the story takes longer to tell or not [case in the point being Iron Man - which had similar pacing problems].

The Mist turned out to be one helluva movie - it drops you straight into the mist and the story gets going without much ado. It amps up the tension and the horror within the store to the point it becomes claustrophobic. Thomas Jane and Marcia Gay Harden's performances are spot on and just turn the stakes up a notch. The CGI is a bit suspect but not to the point where it distracts from the story. And the ending seems too calculated but still a good one if you don't analyse it too much.

I have finished watching the 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica Season-4 and the mid-season finale was mind blowingly good. Probably one of the best episodes in a long time. Too bad that the show now goes on a hiatus for half a year before it returns with the remaining 11 episodes.

That's me for now.
Till later,
Amit
