LX3
The first business/management workshop at work was fantastic and it is going to be hard work but I am looking forward to it.I had been planning a digital camera upgrade for the better part of the year but have been putting it off for one reason or the other - till now. I was tossing and turning between getting a Panasonic TZ7, a Fujifinepix S200EXR or a Panasonic TZ7 - mainly because they are compact and can slip into your jacket pocket easily and have a good wide-angle and telephoto lens incase of the panasonics and a very good sensor and low light shooting capability. But to my surprise and astonishment I settled on a Panasonic LX3 which has a very limited optical zoom, so you can't really zoom in from a long distance off. The things that pushed me in the direction was the actual feel of the camera in my hand - it felt the most solid and sat perfectly in my hand while the others just were off-balance and not a good feeling when it is a compact camera. The second factor was the image quality - the pictures are stunning and even better in low light conditions because of it's bigger sensor than most digital cameras. The third was the fact that it had full manual controls and you could get lens adaptors to attach different filters and lenses on top -in short a compact DSLR while the other three were completely automatic {i think the Fuji finepix had a small amount of manual control} and they were point and shoot cameras. And the final factor was the analysis of my own photography style - I figured that most of my photos - about 90% of them are wide angle shots and only 10% of them are zoomed in shots - which meant it made more sense getting a wide angle camera. So yeah- I was pretty surprised by my decision but I am really happy and excited about the camera. At some point I'll probably get a lens adaptor and filters and also a wide angle adaptor so I can increase the wide angle from existing 24mm to 18mm. For now I'll be sitting down with the manual to start learning manual photography better.
That's me for now.
